Children are loved and valued here at Centenary. One of the gifts of a church like Centenary is the opportunity for intergenerational relationships. The process of becoming a disciple of Jesus Christ begins at birth and at baptism. All of our staff and volunteers who work with children and youth are carefully screened in accordance with our church's Safe Santuaries policy.
Infants and Toddlers
We offer a fully-staffed and equipped nursery each Sunday morning. Nursery care for infants and toddlers up to five years old is available from 8:30 am – 12:30 pm each Sunday in Rooms 108 and 109 at the end of the hall on the first floor of the education building. Nursery staff and one or more adult volunteers supervise the children. Age-appropriate stories, songs, and activities are used to teach about Jesus and God’s love. Even at this young age, our children learn that they are loved and are given opportunities to begin learning basic elements of Christian faith.
The children’s Sunday School class for kindergarten through 5th grade meets from 10:00 – 10:45 am in Room 206, a classroom near the end of the hall on the second floor of the education building, led by caring volunteers who help them understand God's love for them. The children’s class uses the “Grow, Proclaim, Serve!” curriculum that incorporates Bible stories, activities, crafts, videos, and games into a full faith experience for children.
During the 11 am worship service we offer a Children’s Chat time where children are invited up to the front of the church to hear a special story.
We also have several events focused on children each year - a nativity processional during the Family Christmas Eve worship service, an Easter egg hunt, and several hands-on mission opportunites.
