Centenary United Methodist Church is nestled in the vibrant heart of downtown Richmond, Virginia. While our mission primarily centers around downtown, our congregation is a diverse community that spans the entire metro area — from Chesterfield to Ashland, from Varina to Short Pump.
Our Core Beliefs: Worship and Service
At Centenary, we hold a deep belief in the significance of both worship and service. We see worship as the catalyst for service, understanding that one cannot truly serve others without being touched by the grace of God in worship. Sundays are a cornerstone of our community life. Every week, individuals from all corners of Richmond gather to worship God, finding encouragement and support on this shared journey of life and faith.
Sacraments
As United Methodists, we celebrate two sacraments: Baptism and the Lord’s Supper. We believe that both these sacraments are means by which God’s grace is given to us. In the Lord’s Supper, we remember all the works of salvation God has performed, particularly all that God has done for us in Jesus Christ.

Community Impact: Feeding the Hungry
Friday is another significant day at Centenary. It's the day we extend our commitment beyond our walls to feed over 100 hungry people in the downtown Richmond area. This act of service is a tangible expression of our dedication to making a positive impact on the lives of those in need.

At Centenary, we are dedicated to the principles of reconciliation, embodying the spirit of inclusivity and acceptance.
